The real Rocco changed everything.
The book began the day Rocco came home. Watching a child meet a rescue dog for the first time — the hesitation, the wonder, the instant bond — made it clear that something important was happening that words rarely capture for little ones.
As an educator and parent, I had spent years looking for books that gave children real language for big feelings without talking down to them. Rocco's story felt like the one I had been searching for.
My hope is that every child who reads this book finds a little piece of themselves in Rocco — and walks away knowing that they, too, deserve a forever home.
